His Voice, My Hand/Candidate

THE CANDIDATE

There's an election coming.
You know the time and place.
And there's an honest man running,
although you don't know his face.

He's not running for fame or fortune,
Not much media, that's for sure -
Just running to serve his community
Perhaps he is God's cure.

It's not easy to stay honest
In the society of today.
So, I hope he gets elected
in some miraculous way.

He gets no big contributions
to this philosophy he subscribes.
Society's willing to call them PAC's
but he knows that they're just bribes.

He knows not all the answers,
freely shares that with you and me,
But he knows that God will guide him
Because he listens, he can see.

He is not a fortuneteller.
Doesn't make a promise he can't keep,
But he listens to the guidance
sometimes while he's asleep.

He listens to his inner voice.
God shows him the right way.
And when you ask a question,
God guides him in what to say.

When asked, " are you pro life
or should there be a choice?".
He answers very politely,
" Just listen to the Voice".

Yes! There is an election coming.
You know the place to vote
Although the candidate may be faceless,
you will know him by his coat.

It's a coat of many colors
That this candidate proudly wears.
Not running for fame or fortune,
just running because he cares.

His name is on the ballot.
That's about all that I can say,
and I know we'll pick the right person
If we listen when we pray.

I know not yet the person,
so I've written as if a HE,
But maybe, Just like God,
at times HE is a SHE.
